Plasma-2
In close to 20 years, it’s been really hard to track down a good TV icon. Up until a few years ago, TV was just a plastic box that spewed out programming, but now with the advent of HD and good industrial design, a good-looking TV with a good-looking chassis is a fashion statement, a status symbol and your one way ticket to spectacular heights of respect and popularity. On that note, Jonas Rask has My TV, an excellent pair of icons (also see his retro-TV icon) dedicated to his Samsung HD panel in stand and wall-mounted flavors (Mac & Windows).

Marmalade-1
Kate England from Marmalade Moon and the Iconfactory has been quite busy lately: first up at the Iconfactory is the “remastered” set for the classic Soon Spring, now featuring full sized icons for Vista and Leopard (and as always with the ‘Factory, a Candybar download is available as well). Kate, also an incredible desktop designer, has unveiled Club Marmalade Moon, a new club where members will, via e-mail, receive exclusive and rare desktop art for free!

An Oldie But A Goodie: AlBook Icons

Albook
While they’ve been out for quite a while, we can’t seem to stop using Laurent Baumann’s simple yet beautiful AlBook icons (Mac only, but available as PNG). The set brings perfect thematic symmetry to all of your applications, folders and disks with a gray-on-gray vector goodness. The uniformity of the rounded squares for each icon (a whopping 357 of them) make it ideal for tabs on your DragThing dock!

Forget Web 2.0, It’s All About Web 1.0!

Web1
Just happened upon a great set of icons via Apple’s Download page, Web 1.0 from Studio MX. Their intent is simple, but they are quite good looking, and they’re available for both Windows and Mac OS X.

Studio MX also has a selection of other great icons, so check them out!

Refresh Icons

Refresh
It seems only fitting that our first icon recommendation would be from the legendary Iconfactory. They’ve been making icons since you were in short pants and their stuff pops up everywhere. Today’s pick, Refresh, comes from Dave Brasgalla, the artist behind two of the greatest icon series ever produced for the Mac, the classic 32×32 World of Copland, and it’s fatter, wetter son, World of Aqua. Refresh comes in two flavors, original blue and sakura red and gives your desktop a clean, futuristic lift. It’s available for PC and Mac, with a Candybar option for the latter. Love that smooth gloss on the folders? There’s a matching desktop that complements the set quite nicely that will make your computer scream out “don’t touch me with your greasy monkey hands, you’ll get prints all over the shine.
