Margin is a system replacement icon set, hand-scribbled lovingly in the corners of xeroxed pages and notebooks during times of idle boredom.

We are pleased to offer Margin in Mac, Windows, PNG and Candybar formats with full sized Leopard and Vista variations and each set comes with a snappy wallpaper to complement the set:

And you may have noticed as well, that there’s a 1.0 attached to the name, that’s because we’re going to be updating it and adding to it as we go along, in addition to all sorts of new exclusives coming in the future!

More releases from the Iconfactory today as Talos Tsui unveils a terrific icon/desktop/Leopard dock set based on Sony’s recent PSP rhythm-combat game Patapon. The simple black-and-white vector designs are pitch perfect renditions of the little critters from the game, which (should you happen to have a PSP and memory stick handy) you can download a demo from Sony’s official site. Also featured are a desktops and a really slick dark glass dock (for Candybar). Mac, Windows and Candybar downloads are offered.

I can has superior Leopard icons? It’s no secret that the default folder in Leopard are a bit on the boring side, so it’s days like this when we are thankful for icon designers like Susumu Yoshida of McDo Design. MacOSX Cats3 is a great alternative built-in system icons with an obscene number of color variations and an even more obscene raw number of icons (411!). Available for Mac, Windows and Candybar.

Tivo is vastly superior to cable DVR in function, but not necessarily in form. Too many features buried in too many similar menus have made TiVo a prime candidate for a UI upgrade for years now. Their website has been no cakewalk either, and after running incoming surveys on usability last week, TiVo.com has something of a new look (at the top levels at least). Cooler, less “preschool” colors and FrontRow reflectyness have brought it up to 2008 standards. Given the aesthetic parity between the device UI and the site, does this mean that we may be seeing a cleaner, easier TiVo UI in the near future?

Battlestar Galactica is the best show on TV. This isn’t opinion, it’s absolute fact. If you don’t like it, then there is clearly something wrong with you, and you’re a Cylon. One of the lame ones. With the fourth season underway, we thought we’d collect some of the Galactica GUI options available for you to download. The Iconfactory’s Corey Marion has not one, not two, but three excellent sets of icons for Mac, PC and Candybar and SciFi.com has a series of wallpapers and AIM icons!

In close to 20 years, it’s been really hard to track down a good TV icon. Up until a few years ago, TV was just a plastic box that spewed out programming, but now with the advent of HD and good industrial design, a good-looking TV with a good-looking chassis is a fashion statement, a status symbol and your one way ticket to spectacular heights of respect and popularity. On that note, Jonas Rask has My TV, an excellent pair of icons (also see his retro-TV icon) dedicated to his Samsung HD panel in stand and wall-mounted flavors (Mac & Windows).

Kate England from Marmalade Moon and the Iconfactory has been quite busy lately: first up at the Iconfactory is the “remastered” set for the classic Soon Spring, now featuring full sized icons for Vista and Leopard (and as always with the ‘Factory, a Candybar download is available as well). Kate, also an incredible desktop designer, has unveiled Club Marmalade Moon, a new club where members will, via e-mail, receive exclusive and rare desktop art for free!

While they’ve been out for quite a while, we can’t seem to stop using Laurent Baumann’s simple yet beautiful AlBook icons (Mac only, but available as PNG). The set brings perfect thematic symmetry to all of your applications, folders and disks with a gray-on-gray vector goodness.
